Where should I start when replacing interior doors in an apartment?

Start by measuring the opening, checking the condition of the existing frame, and deciding whether you need only a new door leaf or a complete replacement with frame.

Can I replace only the door leaf without changing the frame?

Yes, if the frame is in good condition and compatible with the new leaf, but a full replacement is better when the frame is worn, damaged, or outdated.
